Kia ora fellow Alumni,
There has been so much happening here in Aotearoa regarding the college and our Alumni that I have found it hard to have the time to update us all about the events transpiring. So let me make it a little brief but be as complete as I can be.
Firstly let me start as I have always done in the past in honoring and remembering our Alumni who have returned to their loved ones on the other side of the viel. We who were at school with each of them will all have our own fond memories;
Heather Hata (nee Auld) boarding student from 1968 - 1970 in Emma dorm died June 7th after a long battle with cancer while living in Australia. She was brought home by her whanau and buried in Gisborne.I received several emails from whanau and friends asking that she be remembered.
Merania Katene daugther of our late Stake President in Templeview Bill Katene and his lovely wife died 9th May in Wellington and was buired at the urupa at Porirua. Always one who dressed and looked beautiful. She attended CCNZ in the early to mid 1960's.
Tuehu (nickname Toots) Mitchell who was one of the founding students of 1958 died in the Hawkes Bay of a heart attack in April his tangi was huge and many old students attended.
Paul (nickname Gummy) Gemmel who attended CCNZ 1988 - 89 also died around the same time as Tuehu in Hastings and left a young family.
Our arohanui goes out to these whanau and their sad loss.
VISIT BY PRESIDENT MONSON TO CCNZ
Tuesday 15th June President Thomas S Monson & his counselor President Henry B Eyring & Bishop H David Burton Presiding Bishop made a surpirse visit to the CCNZ campus & community. They were welcomed by the Alumni Cultural group who following their performance brought tears to the eyes of our visitors. A private meeting was held with the members of the Envisioning Committee (which I am included) to discuss possible options for the campus. President Eyring made it clear that demolition was not an option they were considering. President Monson said he believes in building not breaking down. No formal announcements were made though we are expecting once the Envisioning process has been finished that something will be announced in the second half of this year.

OTHER ALUMNI DOING WELL
If you remember Warren Ashton from the late 60's early 70's in Boyack dorm you might be interested in reading about his adventures as an explorer researching some of the locations from the Book of Mormon go to the following site; http://ldsmag.com/bookofmormon/100527nephi.html amazing what Warren has been doing - Warren ordained me a Teacher in the Aaronic Priesthood and was an awesome Teachers Quroum Advisor.
The Lords hand is in all our lives and as Laurie Anderson used to always remind us in our Seminary class - REMEMBER THE CHURCH IS STILL TRUE
